Tips & Tricks

Curious to know what you can do to prepare for you 3D/4D Ultrasound? Here’s some basic instructions that can help you achieve the clearest ultrasound images of your little bundle!

Hydration:

Be sure to increase your water intake a few days prior to your 3D/4D Ultrasound. This does not mean you need to arrive with a full bladder. Hydration preparation starts a few days in advance prior to your ultrasound appointment.

Snack

Try to have a snack within an our of your ultrasound appointment. Even if it’s just a quick snack on your drive over to the studio. This helps your blood sugar levels rise so it helps to wake baby up a bit. Please remember if you are a mom who has gestational diabetes we do not encourage you to consume any of your diet restrictions (eg. sugary foods and drinks) in order to make baby more active for the ultrasound. Remember to always follow your doctors dietary recommendations.

Gestation

This refers to how many weeks you are. Typically we get great 3D/4D Ultrasound images all the way up to the end of your pregnancy. However, because babies do tend to run out of womb as the weeks pass we always encourage moms to visit us for a 3D/4D (HD/5D) Ultrasound around 16-32 weeks. At this time baby is nice and filled out but not too squished in there.

Time

What have you noticed about your babys activity pattern. Is your baby more active in the evenings or in the morning time? You may want to schedule your ultrasound around the time of day baby tends to be more active if possible.

Following these instructions can help set you and your baby up for 3D/4D Ultrasound success!

Did you know that the amniotic fluid you carry is what results in clear ultrasound images? Often, we encourage our moms to drink extra water for a few days prior to their ultrasound sessions. The reason we do this is because the better hydrated you are the clearer and more abundant your amniotic fluid is. This is the secret to clear 3D/4D images. It is also the one and only thing a mom can do to ensure a successful 3D/4D ultrasound session. Certain things are out of our control such as position of baby, babies hands, position of placenta etc. but superior hydration is the one thing moms can do for nice clear ultrasound photos. So be sure to increase your hydration those few days prior leading up to your scan. We look forward to showing you your baby and creating experiences and keepsakes that you can past down to future generations.
